How to Escape from the Mundane
Most of us are busy playing an established role like wife, father, employee, employer, etc. We mostly spend our time making a living and dealing with external matters. As a result, we often say, “it is the same thing every day.” What’s worse, we get to feel flat and dissatisfied with our own life. So, how can we escape from the mundane and feel new and reinvigorated every day?
Learn what you’ve always wanted to know more about. You will feel like you are making a new you every time when you learn something new. Schooling is not the only option to learn things. You can find your teachers in books, online education platforms, or even in museums at a low cost or for free. So you can’t make an excuse for why you can’t learn. learn what you like or learn more about what you are good at. Then, you have no time to say how boring your life is.
Make something creative. It can be drawing, painting, music, dance, and writing, to name a few. Find a medium you like and express your creativity through it. Many people are “chained to the grind of mere survival” and have forgotten the truth that we, human beings, have been creative for tens of thousands of years. Use your natural impulse of creativity and make something nonessential so that you can feel playful, spiritual, intellectual, and free. Elizabeth Gilbert, the writer of “Big Magic”, said, “Creativity is the opposite of everything else in life that’s essential or inescapable - food, shelter, rule of law, social order… It’s something better than a necessity… it is a wild and unexpected bonus from the universe.” So, use the bonus before your life gets expired.
Last but not least, help the weak and the voiceless. When we offer compassionate service for all sentient beings, especially the ones in need, we won’t complain about how mundane life is. Let’s remember that we are “all members of a single family sharing one little planet” and make ourselves busy with making a change for the betterment of humanity and the other sentient beings.
